Diese CD ist Johann Sebastian BACH, einem der größten Komponisten aller Zeiten, gewidmet.  Obwohl er 20 Mitglieder seiner engsten Familie zu seinen Lebzeiten verloren hatte, erfüllte ihn eine überschwenkliche Lebensfreude (stets furchtlos bereit, die Erde zu verlassen) und gleichzeitig eine hingebungsvolle Liebe zu Gott. Beides hat er in genialer Weise in seiner Musik zum Ausdruck gebracht.

„Le Petit Prince“ d’Antoine de Saint – Exupéry

M. M.-Muth née en France, réside en Autriche depuis sa 20ème année. Dans le «Petit Prince», elle réussit à rendre visible et audible la sensibilité et la profondeur de la langue de son compatriote Saint-Exupéry. Grâce à l’étendue et la richesse des couleurs de sa voix, il est possible à la cantatrice professionnelle de trouver pour chacun des personnages sa façon propre de parler et des sonorités vocales adéquates.

Monique Mondon – Muth and Wolfgang Reisinger, two lovers of sacred
music, came together for the purpose of producing this CD. Its goal is to
bring joy to our hearts. They wish that the Spirit which emanates from this CD will provide a source of inspiration and confidence to the listener! The translation of some Latin words (taken from Chouraqui’s Bible and the Bible TOB) opens new dimensions to the sacred texts.

Some thoughts on J.S. Bach (1685 – 1750)

J.S. BACH, born 1685, stemmed from the 7th generation of an important musicians’
family from Thuringia. The youngest amongst 8 siblings of his parents, Elisabeth and
Ambrosius Bach who was the court musician with the Dukes of Eisenach, he learned
to play the harpsichord, the violin and the organ from early childhood. He was noticed
as an excellent student in the Latin School of Eisenach – also due to the beauty and
accuracy of his voice.

From his most tender childhood onwards he became familiar with death and the
Hereafter: at the age of six he had already lost three brothers and one sister, at 35 he
lost his wife, at 37 two more brothers, and from the 20 children stemming from his two
marriages 11 died during his lifetime. But the hardest loss that shook him most during
his childhood was the sudden death of both his parents: within a few months he became
a total orphan. He was not ten years old. From this time onwards he faced questions like
“How am I going to survive alone? Where is my home?” It was his older brother, organ
player in Ohrdruf who gave him shelter in his own family.
Let’s imagine his first Christmas in Ohrdruf. How deeply the encounter with the crib of
his new home must have become engraved in the little boy’s orphaned heart. There are
two children, both so fragile and vulnerable. They are looking at each other for a long
time and whisper to each other:
“Do you want a bit from me?” Says the one in the straw.
“Oh, yes!” Says the other one, “ and You?”
“Oh! Yes!….You … IF YOU KNEW! …”
“Then, I’ll come to You!”
“Oh, you … allways!”
That’s the way, I think, that this long and beautiful love story between the little boy
and “HIS” Jesus was created. (Later in life, Johann Sebastian composed for his children
the deepest and most simple Christmas song that I know: Ich steh an deiner Krippen
hier – “I am standing here at your crib, … I am looking at you … and I can’t see enough
of you … so let me be your little crib …”).
An orphan on earth, he is led from then on a life as a real child of God: unwaveringly,
in loyal love and with imperturbable trust. Even as an adult he kept this simplicity
and freshness from his childhood which made his true value. That’s how when
he was 44 years old, he exclaimed joyfull and ardently in his St.Matthew Passion:
“I want to give You my heart! … is the world too small for You, then, You should be more

to me alone than the entire world … and than the heaven!”, as an answer to little Jesus in
the straw’s constant plea: “DO YOU WANT A BIT FROM ME?” (I am leaving but I’m
giving you my body and blood.) Johann Sebastian, the most acclaimed organ virtuoso of
his time, astounded his many admirers with his enthusiasm and his infantile freshness: “I
play for the biggest musician in the world. Maybe he is not always here but I’m always
playing as if he always was present.” So much truth in so much simplicity!
Convinced of only being an instrument in God’s hands he stayed unimpressed by the
praise of others. No matter if he played, conducted, sang, taught or composed his motto
stays: “Soli Deo Gloria” (The glory belongs only to god.). “The soul resting in Jesus’
hands” is Johann Sebastian’s soul: bare through simplicity, transparent, in full devotion to
Jesus. To understand his soul we hear “Jesus stays my joy” (Jesu, joy of man’s desiring),
a chorale that he put into music following the death of one of his children. Sharing his
pain with “his Jesus” whom he loved so much he continued his path unwaveringly.
And, after everything has been said, the surprise followed immediately: in an instant
of eternity Jesus descended profoundly into his heart and brought him back his child.
A beam of bliss and peace lightens up his face and life takes its now alleviated course.
Therefore it is really necessary for me to sing this choral in a blithely tempo.
“To see his Jesus” had always been the goal of his existence, his highest good. Having
had this in mind and heart, he left the earth in cheerful anticipation in Leipzig on July 28,
1750, humming tenderly his last work “Lord, I’m arriving at Your Throne”.
It is 9.15pm. The night is falling, the world is going to sleep …
Oh! … My faithful heart … “Rejoice! Sing! … YOUR JESUS IS HERE!”
And he weeps, and he laughs … With Jesus.

Nous osons dédier ce CD à J.S.BACH, un des plus grands compositeurs de tous les temps. 20 membres de sa famille la plus proche décédèrent de son vivant : ses parents (coup sur coup, quand il avait 9 ans), sa 1^ere épouse, 11 enfants et 6 frères et sœurs.

Et pourtant … Toute sa vie durant cet homme a aimé l’humour et la bonne chère, il a fait preuve d’une joie de vivre débordante et d’une intensité d’énergie incroyable, tout en vouant à Dieu un amour profond et une confiance inébranlable. Et tout cela est bien présent dans sa musique.
